Elk Grove Unified School District is one of California’s largest and most diverse public school systems, serving more than 64,000 students across 68 schools within a 320‑square‑mile region that includes Elk Grove, parts of Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, and unincorporated Sacramento County areas. Known for a graduation rate above 90%, the district offers extensive academic, cultural, and career‑technical programs supported by more than 2,500 teachers and 3,500 staff.

EGUSD is governed by a seven‑member board elected by trustee areas, EGUSD is recognized for its strong community engagement, broad student services, and commitment to preparing students to be college and career ready.

The schools that belong to Area 4 include Laguna Creek High School and John Ehrhardt Elementary which sit in the Laguna Creek/Laguna Park area, while Joseph Sims Elementary serves the nearby Laguna Creek South community. Foulks Ranch Elementary anchors the long‑established Foulks Ranch neighborhood, and Elliott Ranch and Stone Lake Elementary are located in the Laguna West and Stone Lake areas. Marion Mix Elementary is the newest school located in the Laguna Ridge/Madeira community in southwest Elk Grove.
