My Priorities
School Safety, Health, and Wellness
Strengthen communication with families and guardians of students to ensure transparency of student supports, community resources, and safety plans for school sites.
Enhance district policies to address bullying on and off-campus and address online interactions.
Maintain strong relationships with the Elk Grove Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s who watch over our schools and ensure the community is safe.
Ensuring adequate training and resources are provided to our campus security to keep our schools safe and welcoming environments for families, students, and staff.
Ensure district staff are provided quality resources to increase wellness and prevent burn-out.
Strengthening High Quality Education
Invest in Special Education and academic interventions to ensure the success of all students.
Strengthen the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to ensure students’ needs are met and robust supports are established to support their progress.
Expand Career Technical Education (CTE) and pathway programs for students to pursue high demand careers by partnering with local businesses and trades.
Expand literacy programs to address falling English Language Arts (ELA) proficiency and improve ELA outcomes for students to be college and career ready.
Develop policies for the use of artificial intelligence to ensure it is leveraged to support academics and appropriate business needs.
Teacher and Staff Recruitment and Retention
Continue serving on the Wellness Collaborative to contribute and support initiatives to increase wellness in our schools and offices throughout the district.
Ensure that the district invests and provides robust benefits to ensure a life well lived by all staff.
Ensure that salaries and benefits are competitive in the region to ensure that we continue to be a destination school district for educators in California.
Invest in training programs for staff that allow them to earn a credential while they work.
Expand recruitment of paraprofessionals who serve students with special needs and ensure they are compensated fairly.
Responsible Governance and Fiscal Management
Continue to stay up to date on the status of the California Budget Project – Education and California Department of Legislative Analyst Office – Education, to ensure the district receives the appropriate funding allocation.
Advocate for our district and public education at large, when the State or California strategizes with Proposition 98 funding that our schools are entitled to.
Ensure the district maintains a fiscally solvent budget each cycle to ensure the responsible management of $1 billion operating budget meets the highest standard of fiduciary responsibility.
Commit to working jointly with the Superintendent to set policy, adopt budgets, and oversee district performance.
Will conduct myself with dignity and respect to my fellow board members and ensure the voice and needs of Area 4 are included in all decisions.
I will uphold the highest levels of transparency, accountability, and community engagement to best represent Area 4 schools, families, and community at large.
