My Priorities

School Safety, Health, and Wellness

  • Strengthen communication with families and guardians of students to ensure transparency of student supports, community resources, and safety plans for school sites.

  • Enhance district policies to address bullying on and off-campus and address online interactions.

  • Maintain strong relationships with the Elk Grove Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s who watch over our schools and ensure the community is safe.

  • Ensuring adequate training and resources are provided to our campus security to keep our schools safe and welcoming environments for families, students, and staff.

  • Ensure district staff are provided quality resources to increase wellness and prevent burn-out.

Strengthening High Quality Education

  • Invest in Special Education and academic interventions to ensure the success of all students.

  • Strengthen the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to ensure students’ needs are met and robust supports are established to support their progress.

  • Expand Career Technical Education (CTE) and pathway programs for students to pursue high demand careers by partnering with local businesses and trades.

  • Expand literacy programs to address falling English Language Arts (ELA) proficiency and improve ELA outcomes for students to be college and career ready.

  • Develop policies for the use of artificial intelligence to ensure it is leveraged to support academics and appropriate business needs.

Teacher and Staff Recruitment and Retention

  • Continue serving on the Wellness Collaborative to contribute and support initiatives to increase wellness in our schools and offices throughout the district.

  • Ensure that the district invests and provides robust benefits to ensure a life well lived by all staff.

  • Ensure that salaries and benefits are competitive in the region to ensure that we continue to be a destination school district for educators in California.

  • Invest in training programs for staff that allow them to earn a credential while they work.

  • Expand recruitment of paraprofessionals who serve students with special needs and ensure they are compensated fairly.

Responsible Governance and Fiscal Management

  • Continue to stay up to date on the status of the California Budget Project – Education and California Department of Legislative Analyst Office – Education, to ensure the district receives the appropriate funding allocation.

  • Advocate for our district and public education at large, when the State or California strategizes with Proposition 98 funding that our schools are entitled to.

  • Ensure the district maintains a fiscally solvent budget each cycle to ensure the responsible management of $1 billion operating budget meets the highest standard of fiduciary responsibility.

  • Commit to working jointly with the Superintendent to set policy, adopt budgets, and oversee district performance.

  • Will conduct myself with dignity and respect to my fellow board members and ensure the voice and needs of Area 4 are included in all decisions.

  • I will uphold the highest levels of transparency, accountability, and community engagement to best represent Area 4 schools, families, and community at large.
